SUNDAY SONGS

This is my favorite Thanksgiving hymn.
Everytime I hear it I am reminded of my childhood.
(maybe it has something to do with my Protestant roots)

Prayer of Thanksgiving # 93

1. We gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing;
He chastens, and hastens his will to make known;
The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing.
Sing praises to his name;
He forgets not his own.

2. Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,
Ordaining, maintaining his kingdom divine;
So from the beginning the fight we were winning;
Thou, Lord, wast at our side;
All glory be thine!

3. We all do extol thee, thou leader triumphant,
And pray that thou still our defender wilt be.
Let thy congregation escape tribulation;
Thy name be ever praised!
O Lord, make us free!

Text: Anon., The Netherlands, ca. 1626; trans. by Theodore Baker, 1851–1934

Music: Anon., The Netherlands, ca. 1625; arr. by Edward Kremser, 1838–1914

Psalm 100:4–5

Isaiah 12:1–6

1. husband home ALL Saturday
2. hats and scarves
3. a warm home

I always look forward to singing this song in the fall... I even enjoy singing it when it's not Thanksgiving time.

I was TOTALLY bummed yesterday when this song and the other thanksgiving song was not sung in sacrament meeting. WHAT? Couldn't understand WHY? I felt better when we sang them for opening and closing songs in RS though. I LOVE this song.

It's so nice in your Isaiah quote how he says the Lord is my strength and my song. Uplifting music truly gives me strength.
