Elder Russell M. Nelson

Fred and I had the opportunity to attend two wonderful events on Sunday. First was the Nashua NH Stake Conference in the morning and then a fireside for Temple workers in the afternoon.

Elder Russell M. Nelson and Elder Allan F. Packer (recently called to the quorum of Seventy) were in attendance at both meetings. It was a wonderful, uplifting, spiritual feast and I'm so happy that we were able to attend. I'll be sharing the gems of wisdom learned at the feet of an apostle of the Lord over the next few days of blog entries.

First of all, for those of you that are not of the LDS faith, let me tell you who Elder Nelson is. Elder (that's a title, not a name) Russell M. Nelson is a member of the quorum of the twelve apostles. He is a special witness of our Savior, Jesus Christ. As one of the twelve, he is assigned to travel throughout the world testifying of Jesus' divinity.

Prior to his being called as an Apostle in 1984, Elder Nelson earned his living as an internationally renowned cardiac surgeon and medical researcher, having served a portion of his residency at Mass General Hospital in Boston, MA.   He is the father of 10, grandfather of 55 and great-grandfather of 14.

During the Stake Conference session, he gave instruction on eleven things to teach our children.  I'll be discussing those eleven items in upcoming posts.

My three for today:
1.  Apostles
2.  Ice Cream
3.  Fred
